I was born and raised in Peoria Illinois. I attended Peoria High School and graduated in 1994. From there I graduated from Bradley University with my undergrad degree (BA) in 1999. I stayed with Bradley to attain my MA and graduated with honors in 2003. I started my career working in the community with intact families through the Children’s Home. I would go to my client’s home and perform in house therapy. I then continued working with the community as a foster care therapist, also with Children’s Home. In 2005-2008 I left Children’s home and joined a different community foster care agency and continued my therapist role. I ended my foster care experience in 2008 and rejoined the Children’s Home as a Residential therapist. I worked with the residential program at Children’s Home from June of 2008 to June of 2012.
In late June of 2012 I started my private practice experience. I have settled in with running my own private practice. I have enjoyed all types of therapeutic work which I have experienced throughout the years. Each step of the way has taught me different techniques and things that benefit my clients today. My main therapeutic technique is EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing). I find this technique to be the most efficient, powerful technique I have used. I am so fond of it I continued past the normal training to be able to practice EMDR and attained my national certification.
I have two distinct qualifications which make me unique as a therapist. I also am nationally certified in EMDR. With the national certification in EMDR I have been very successful with helping individual with sports performance enhancement, anxiety, grief, depression, post traumatic stress disorder, change of life issues and victims of abuse.
